W.C. Miller grads chose an Arthur Ward quote as their theme. "If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it."

With 44 out of the 91 grads achieving honour roll status, and 38 per cent pursuing post-secondary education this fall, the class certainly illustrated the ability to dream and to achieve.

Principal Jonathan Toews noted the many hours that have been invested in each graduate, from teachers and parents. "We're proud to recognize the fine young adults our grads have become."

Border Land superintendent Tim Mendel told the grads, "The first big day is the day you're born. The second big day is when you discover why." Mendel urged the class to search for a greater purpose outside of financial gain. "We exist for a greater good. People who believe in a higher purpose are happier and live longer," he said. "Spirituality is about discovering that purpose."

Valedictorian Renae Friesen shared memories of growing up together as a class, from the challenges of elementary school, to the transition to high school. She told her fellow grads to value the people and experiences who made them who they are today.

In her graduation address, 1987 Miller graduate and former Sunflower Festival Queen Karen Pauls said she loved the grad theme, particularly since it was the same theme her class had 23 years ago. "Your imagination and thoughts are the tools of your success," she said. "The more you visualize things, the more you work it out in your head, the closer your dreams are to reality."

"Your future is a gift," she said. "This is your chance to open it."
