A bunt intended to advance Bison runners ended up scoring three runs after a comedy of errors by the Elmwood Giants, led to an impressive six run inning and an 8-5 victory for the Bisons in game two of the MJBL semi-final.

At press time, the Bisons were one game away from advancing to the league finals thanks to Monday's 8-5 win and Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Giants.

They were scheduled to visit Elmwood on July 28. If needed the final two games would take place July 29 in Altona and July 30 in Winnipeg.

Monday's game saw the Bisons fall behind by three after the top of the first inning. A solo home run by Angus Klassen brought them within two. There was no scoring until the fourth inning when the Bisons managed to score six runs to get out in front.

The Giants managed to add two in the sixth, while the Bisons scored one. Colin Waldner pitched the last inning, taking over from Angus Klassen to shut them down.

Brothers, Angus and Brett Klassen scored two runs each during the win.

The day before the Bisons edged out Elmwood 2-1 to take the series lead.

The Bisons beat the Carillon Sultans in three games in the first round. On July 20 they won 8-2, but the following day lost 4-0.

They rallied to win the final game 8-5.

The Altona Bisons finished fifth in the regular season with a 14-16-0 record, but have been on fire in the playoffs with a 4-1-0 record.

The Elmwood Giants finished first with a 23-7-0 record.
